2025 Internships are from
June 2 - July 25, 2025

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Deadline for businesses to participate is March 1st, 2025

WHAT IS THE COST FOR A BUSINESS TO HIRE A SUMMER INTERN?

The cost for an intern varies on the number of hours an intern
works. (Ex. $10/hr for 32 hrs/week for 8 weeks = $2,560.00). We require that our providers pay a minimum of $10/hr for a minimum of 20 hrs per week. Interns can work both full-time and part-time positions.

WHAT IS SIGNING DAY?

Much like National Signing Day in college sports, we celebrate our students and businesses with SOI’s own “Signing Day” in early May each year.  At least one representative from each hiring business needs to be in attendance.

DO THE INTERNS RECEIVE ANY TRAINING BEFORE THE INTERNSHIP?

Yes. Interns are required to attend an 8-hour workforce (2 hours per day) development training during March before being considered for an interview. During the training, interns learn hard/soft skills, resumé building, and interviewing techniques to prepare them for their internships.

HOW LONG IS THE INTERNSHIP?

8-weeks. The internship begins the first Monday of June and runs through the last Friday of July, year-to-year.

ARE STUDENTS PLACED AT THEIR INTERNSHIPS?

Students are not assigned internships they have to apply and interview with the business provider.

CAN A BUSINESS HOST MORE THAN ONE INTERN?

Yes, and we encourage hiring more than one if possible.  Double or triple your impact!

WHO INTERVIEWS THE INTERNS?

The participating businesses do. Students apply online through students46.com starting on March 24. Once their applications are received, employers will be able contact each applicant to set up an interview. Interviews will take place throughout the end of March and the month of April. The deadline to hire a student is April 25. Impact46 must be notified of the hire on or before April 25.

MY BUSINESS CAN’T HOST, BUT STILL WANTS TO SUPPORT THE SUMMER OF IMPACT. WHAT CAN WE DO?

You may not be able to host a student, but you can help by sponsoring Love Lawrenceville Day the program or introducing the Summer of Impact to another potential internship provider. Reach out to Josiah Vega at josiah@impact46.org if you are interested!
